Susan Eidenschink of Health Care For All, Washington (HCFA-WA) asked that this important and urgent article be posted on our website. It covers important news about proposed legislation for Single Payer Health Insurance (clickable link if you don’t know what that is).
Washington Health Security Trust (WHST) Single Payer Health Care Bill
A Single Payer Health Care bill was introduced in the Washington State 2013 Legislature, House Bill (HB) 1085. The title is Washington Health Security Trust (WHST). The original WHST proposal was written by members of Health Care For All — Washington (http://www.healthcareforallwa.org). HB 1085 is written to be compliant to the Affordable Care Act (PPACA), which makes WHST ready for a request to the Federal Government for use as a health care plan in Washington State in 2017. The companion bill is SB 5224.
